Death — tarot card meaning
End, transformation, cleansing, new cycle. Upright and reversed meaning, in love, money and the “yes or no” answer.

In short: End, transformation, cleansing, new cycle.
Yes or no: NOT in its current form.
Meaning of Death
Death does not literally mean the physical death of a person. It is a symbol of the changes that took place in him when he assumed the position of the Hanged Man, thanks to which he gained a new view of the world and his understanding of the reality surrounding him radically changed.
The destruction shown on the card is a personification of the price he paid for this new look, but at the same time they are the foundations for his rebirth, building something anew. Death is therefore a stage of rebirth through the rejection of what was and the beginning of a new life.
Death in love
Death in love rarely means a literal loss - it means the end of a stage: a separation that has matured, or the death of an old version of a relationship and the birth of a new one (after a crisis, betrayal, illness). For singles, closing the mourning for a former relationship is a condition for new love. In a relationship - let go of what is no longer alive: patterns, resentments, old expectations. After Death comes lightness.
Death in money and career
Financially, Death is the end of a source of income or a career stage: dismissal, closure of a company, expiration of a contract - but also the end of debt, repayment of a loan, sale of what was burdened. The card favors transformational professions: medicine, therapy, restructuring, funeral services, recycling. Advice: don't save what is dying - free up resources for new ones.
Death — yes or no?
Answer of Death: NOT in its current form. Death says "no" to the current form of the matter. Something has to end for your question to get a “yes” — in a different shape, at a different time.
Shadow of the card: Death reversed
Death reversed is resistance to change: clinging to a dead relationship, job, identity; the fear of the end so strong that it poisons the present. It can mean stagnation, depression, "life in limbo" after a loss. In love: a relationship maintained out of habit, an unresolved past blocking a new relationship. In finance: zombie company, debt rolled over for years, avoiding bankruptcy at all costs. Lesson: what you don't bury can't be reborn.
Death as the card of the day
When Death appears as your card of the day, the theme is: End, transformation, cleansing, new cycle. Notice where this energy shows up on its own — in a conversation, a decision, a mood — and ask yourself in the evening: “where was I like Death in the light today, and where in the shadow?”. For a closed question the card answers: NOT in its current form. In a three-card spread, Death in the past position describes the source of the situation, in the present its core, in the future the direction it is heading if nothing changes.
